One of the only incentives for returning from beautiful San Deigo to the cold, rainy weather in Seattle was that it was our turn to pick our puppy from the litter! We drove the 1.5 hours on Labor Day to visit the litter for the first time. After holding, loving, and more holding, we finally decided on which one would be ours. It was definitely a tough decision, because all of them were incredibly adorable, but the breeder had been watching them closely and had already noticed several personalities developing. We decided to go with the male blue merle because of his blue eyes and fun markings. He also takes after his father as a cuddler and will look VERY similar to him once fully grown.

We have decided to name him "Blue Like Jazz", after the Donald Miller book, but we will call him "Jazz" for short. Not only is the book one of my all-time favorites, but the name fits our puppy literally. The blue part comments on the fact that he is a blue merle and also his blue eyes. Jazz refers to the markings on his coat that look like crazy music notes going everywhere and hopefully it will refer to his fun and outgoing personality (which, how could he not be fun and outgoing with owners like us! I digress...).
Jazz will be joining our family on October 4th - just one day before my birthday! We are in dog-preparation mode now, ordering some things online, shopping for others in the store and prepping our home for "puppyness".

Yeah, a new nephew! He is precious. Cooper and Millie checked out the picture too and thought he would fit in the family.
