ENVELOPE HOLDERS

I've had several requests for me to share how I made the recipe holder favors from the Recipe Exchange Party. So here's a quick tutorial on how to make some simple envelope holders for everything from photos to coupons:

MATERIALS:
  • Envelopes (two of the same size)
  • Decorative paper (purchased or print your own)
  • Double-sided tape or glue
  • Pen or pencil
  • Paper cutter or scissors
  • Stuff to put in your envelope holder!

Use the paper cutter to trim off the flap of one of your envelopes

Slide the flap of the second envelope into the pocket of the first envelope

Trace the outer edges of the envelopes with a pencil.

Cut inside your traced area .25 in all the way around. You can trim some off the top and bottom to decrease the amount of "fluff" inside your envelope pockets. Just be sure not to trim too far in so that the liner end shows when the holder is complete.

Put your liner paper inside of the two pockets and secure with tape or glue (I just adhere a little on one side so that the paper has room to move when the holder is folded)

Turn the holder over so that you can see the seam of where the two envelopes meet.

Run a piece of tape or glue the entire length of the top of the envelope with the flap (not on the flap, but at the top of the envelope pocket). Slide your envelope back into the other and press down to make them stick together.

You can now fold your holder in half and fill with cards, photos, or coupons!

For the favors, I wrapped some ribbon around the folded holder and secured it with a sticker.

There you have it! A quick way to make a sweet holder for random papers. You can dress up your envelopes with stickers, photos or drawings to create your own unique piece!
